We’re less than two weeks into the MLB season and just like everyone predicted, the Oakland Athletics are tied for first place in their division…wait, what? Yeah, it’s early, but the A’s were supposed to be the cellar dwellers of the AL West. They spent a whopping $0 in free agency and traded away two of their best position players as well as one of their best starting pitchers this offseason. They did all that just one year after the team finished 86-76, just five games out of the playoffs, and two years removed from three straight playoff appearances. They were a good team with a lot of potential and although they took a step back last season, there were still enough pieces in place to keep the A’s in contention for at least 2022. That wasn’t GM David Frost’s plan though. His plan was to blow everything up and acquire some prospects, as the plan always is. The Athletics seem to be in this perpetual state of rebuilding, and A’s fans have seemingly had enough. During last night’s game, which, keep in mind, was less than two weeks away from opening day, and THE SECOND GAME OF THEIR FIRST HOME SERIES OF 2022, attendance was 3,748. The A’s’ home ballpark, RingCentral Coliseum, seats 63,132 (drops to 35,000 when the upper deck is covered), so at best, for the team’s second home game of the season, attendance was at 10.7 percent capacity. That’s not good, and if I’m being honest, it feels like it’s all part of team president Dave Kaval’s plan. Yeah, I’m putting on my tin foil hat here. Is it really any wonder that less than a year after Kaval threatened the city of Oakland with a move to Las Vegas and demanded the city start planning a waterside ballpark if they wanted to keep the A’s in town, the team started trading away its best players and refused to spend money on players who would bring fans to the ballpark? That doesn’t seem suspicious at all. If anything, the lack of attendance is all the more reason for Kaval to move the team away from Oakland. “Clearly, the fans don’t want us here,” Kaval will say. “If they did, they’d show up to our games.” His mustache-twirling schemes are playing out perfectly it seems. The sad truth is that Kaval is sort of right. If my favorite team started threatening to leave, trading away all of its best players while still in the playoff hunt, and spending absolutely no money on free agents at the same time, I wouldn’t want to go to games anymore either. The A’s have repeatedly slapped their fans in the face with their unwillingness to give a shit. No matter the situation, they seem intent on wallowing in perpetual mediocrity. They build up all these great homegrown prospects only to send them to the AL East as soon as the A’s get good enough to compete with them. Obviously, the A’s can’t afford to keep those great players come contract time, but the front office isn’t even trying. They’ve just given into the idea that their fans will forever be unhappy with the team because they can’t afford to keep their big name guys. They’ve succumbed to the idea that they’ll never get a big-name free agent. They’re broken and the fans are sick of it. The city of Oakland deserves better than a team that claims to be “Rooted in Oakland” yet wants nothing more than to leave the town with two middle fingers and a cloud of dust. Elden Ring is on everyone’s mind right now, thanks to the recently-released Shadow of the Erdtree, while it’s also more than a little likely that we’ll be seeing a sequel to the open world action RPG at some point in the future. Interestingly, however, that may not be the extent of expansions to the IP in the future, because it seems like an Elden Ring adaptation might also be in the works.
That’s apparently being teased by none other than George R.R. Martin himself, the Game of Thrones author who penned the lore for Elden Ring and its setting. Writing in a recent blog update, Martin seemed to cheekily – but with little room for doubt – hint at a movie or TV show based on Elden Ring.…

Paris Saint-Germain climbed to the top of Ligue 1 on goal difference as they took their goalscoring feats to nine goals in two games with a resounding 3-0 win over Dijon.
Unai Emery s side crushed Caen 6-0 in the league last time out and they maintained their impressive form as Edinson Cavani and Lucas Moura netted after Adam Lang s own goal.
Lang marked his Dijon debut in unfortunate style by deflecting Maxwell s cross into his own net with 15 minutes played before Cavani bagged his sixth goal in the last three games in all competitions from the penalty spot.
Dijon offered little going forward apart from a brief spell before the break, Mehdi Abeid rattling the PSG woodwork.
Victory was assured as Moura took advantage of some poor marking from the Dijon …
Luis Enrique dismissed suggestions Alvaro Morata is low on confidence after the Spain striker drew a blank in a 2-1 home win against Norway.
Spain got their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign up and running with a victory secured thanks to Sergio Ramos scoring a penalty won by Morata.
But the Atletico Madrid striker, who is on loan from Chelsea, failed to score despite having six shots more than any other player at Mestalla on Saturday.
A Dani Ceballos cross provided Morata with his best opportunity to score his first international goal since November 2017 but the striker headed off target.
Luis Enrique, though, feels Morata is turning his career around after leaving Stamford Bridge to return to the Spanish capital on loan.

Mikel Arteta believes Champions League quarter-final success against Bayern Munich will take Arsenal to the next level as he told his players to “write a different story” at the Allianz Arena.
The Gunners head into Wednesday’s second leg locked at 2-2 with Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern after a thrilling draw at the Emirates Stadium last week.
Defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday has since dented Arsenal’s Premier League title bid as attention now turns to Europe once again.
Arsenal had lost seven last-16 ties in succession before returning to the Champions League this season – three times to Bayern.
Arteta, though, feels reaching a semi-final against either holders Manchester City or record 14-time winners Real Madrid would elevate Arsenal.

that Arsenal have turned down the chance to sign Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote.
The Ivory Coast international has been continuously linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in over the past two seasons, though Arsene Wenger has declined the chance to sign the 28 year old this month.
Since moving to St James’ Park in the summer of 2010, Tiote has racked up one hundred and thirty appearances in all competitions, scoring his one and only goal in a dramatic 4-4 with Arsenal in February 2011.
He is currently away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations, and won his forty-eighth senior cap in last week’s 1-1 draw with Mali.

The news comes a week on from an explosive interview in which Ronaldo declared he feels betrayed by United and expressed his lack of respect for manager Erik ten Hag.
While the World Cup will be top of the agenda for Ronaldo in the weeks ahead, the five-time Ballon d Or winner must also now find a new club for the start of next year.
Which team he joins, though, remains difficult to predict.

Simone Inzaghi has set and maintained high standards at Inter, so says his Nerazzurri assistant Massimiliano Farris.
Inter clinched their 20th Serie A title by beating fierce rivals Milan in Monday s derby.
That meant that Sunday s home meeting with Torino was something of a celebration for Inter and their fans, and the team delivered with a 2-0 victory.
Hakan Calhanoglu scored both of Inter s goals, and Farris, who spoke to the media instead of his boss, piled the praise on Inzaghi.
In quotes reported by Football Italia, Farris told DAZN: We ve tried to build a positive environment. We lost important players [last summer], but we welcomed important players who made themselves loved.
Going to the pitch and working this season was a pleasure. We h…
Massimo Carrera has demanded full focus from his Juventus side as he sets out to claim their first home win over Chievo since 2009.
The Serie A champions have started off this season s campaign with three wins out of three, nine goals scored and only two conceded to stretch their unbeaten run to 42 games.
But the 48-year-old coach, who is at the helm while Antonio Conte serves his 10-month ban, has demanded full focus against Chievo on Saturday who they have failed to beat in their last five attempts.
It s been a while since we got the better of Chievo, so we ll need to take to the field with the right mentality. We know we ll be in for an extremely difficult game and must remain focused, he said.
